Abstract

Since the time of ancient Egypt, rhinoplasty has played a fundamental role in the
development of the field of both Plastic Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology, arousing
the interest of both specialties, to develop surgical techniques that allow better
results in patients at a functional level. and aesthetic. That is why, mainly from the
end of the 19th century, there has been a clear interest from various surgeons to
determine the basic principles that determine a successful surgery and that allow
the patient to be given satisfactory results that, in the first place, evoke a better
flow of nasal air, secondly, a satisfactory improvement of the nasal appearance and
finally the choice of a technique that prevents the need for revision surgery. In this
article, we will talk about the main aspects of performing a rhinoplasty, the main
pathologies that lead to the need to perform this surgery and the differences that
exist today in the development of Plastic Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology, as well as
its interdisciplinary management.
