The procedures performed in interventional radiology often require the use of anesthesia in order to
do a good job of taking images and providing the patient with better care. Protocols for anesthesia
outside the operating room have been implemented in several places since it generates adverse
events in patients, which can lead to cardiac arrest, That is why consensus is addressed here that
would help provide better care to patients and reduce unwanted events when placing anesthesia
in addition to generating a comfortable environment and multidisciplinary management in the
patient.
It is important to know the types of sedation and analgesia that can be performed in patients
because many of them can generate adverse reactions, for the radiologist it is important to know
these drugs because in many cases they are administered by them without the presence of an
anesthesiologist. That is why a protocol and a checklist must be created to have better control of
the situation. In addition, sedation and non-pharmacological analgesia are disclosed, which have
been shown to reduce pain and anxiety in the patient in addition to costs in the hospital, they help
in the treatment of pediatric patients because these represent a great challenge for the doctor.
