Abstract

Pre-anesthetic assessment has become one of the major challenges for anesthesiologists. Ensuring and minimizing risks and complications in each procedure has become a daunting task, particularly in rare and complex diseases due to the limited number of patients with these conditions and the
scarce case reports available in the literature. This systematic review of the literature aims to explore how anesthesiologists currently identify potential risks associated with anesthesia in this specific population. Additionally, it seeks to suggest clear approaches for managing these risks before and during anesthesia to reduce complications, morbidity and mortality rates in the short, medium, and long term, as well as ICU stays, across different patient age groups.
