Abstract

Auriculotemporal nerve syndrome also known as Frey syndrome (SF) is a pathology with frequent
clinical presentation that, due to its presentation mechanism: sweating, hyperemia, and pain,
mainly in the preauricular region after eating spicy foods, has become indecipherable. in some
specialties and also underdiagnosed, causing a bias in defining its etiology, interpretation,
prevention, treatment, and interventions.
In essence, knowledge of medical bases such as physiology and anatomy will help the clinician
define and evaluate its evolution, therapeutic response, predisposition, and prognosis in order to
guarantee the interrelation of the relevant specialties.
This review studies the role of the Neurologist, Otolaryngologist, and Palliative Physician in the face
of successful non-remission of the syndrome and also the different diagnostic and therapeutic
strategies.
